Dawn Renee Barney to Kenneth H. Ballard, Jr

Kenneth and Charlene Barney of Sandy Hook announce the engagement of their daughter, Dawn Renee Barney, to Kenneth Halcyon Ballard, Jr, son of Kenneth and Elizabeth Ballard of Danbury.

The future bride graduated from Newtown High School and earned a master’s degree in counseling from Western Connecticut State University. She is currently completing a PhD in counseling psychology at the University of Connecticut. She is the director of the Danbury Even Start Program.

The future groom graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School and is a retail delivery driver for Marcus Dairy. He is also the shop steward at Marcus for the Teamsters Local 677.

A December wedding, followed by a wedding trip to Hawaii, is planned.
