Bradley Hodges Vadas

Bradley Hodges Vadas, 37, died September 11 in the World Trade Center disaster.

Vadas was a senior vice president with Keefe, Bruyette and Woods, a financial firm whose New York offices were located in the south tower on the 88th and 89th floors. He lived in New York City and spent weekends at his home in Westport.

He is survived by his brother, Chris Vadas of Newtown, his wife, Denise, and their daughter Morgan.

Vadas was brought up in Weston and attended Weston public schools, graduating in 1982, with honors. He graduated from Boston College in 1986 with a degree in economics. He had worked with KBW for 15 years where he was an accomplished bank equities trader.

He was an ardent chess player. At his home in Westport he enjoyed boating and fishing and playing softball Sunday mornings at Compo Beach. He loved the beauty of Wyoming where he owned a second home in Jackson Hole. He was an avid skier and spent many hours snow shoeing and snowmobiling.

In addition to his brother, sister-in-law, and niece, Vadas is survived by his father, Donald Vadas of Norwalk; his mother, Constance and stepfather Bruce Taylor of Weston; and by his girlfriend of nine years, Kris McFerren of New York, N.Y. He is also survived by his sister, Melissa Prevey of Hope Valley, R.I., her husband, Michael, and their sons, Alexander and Garrett; his stepbrother, Bruce Taylor, Jr, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., his wife, Gayla, and their son, Jordan; his stepsister, Sandi Forlenza and her husband, Mitchell of Trumbull; and by his two grandmothers, Maysie (Vadas) Aussenhofer of Darien and Grace C. Funk of New Canaan.

A memorial service will be held at the Saugatuck Congregational Church, 245 Post Road East, Westport on Saturday, September 29, at 2 pm.

In recognition of Vadas’s passion for education and intellectual pursuits, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to: The Bradley H. Vadas Memorial Fund, Boston College Development Office, 140 Commonwealth Avenue, More Hall #220, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
