Church Hill Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident near 66 Church Hill Road, at the driveway entrance to the Blue Colony Diner, about 12:22 pm on June 11.

Motorist Jillian Gibney, 16, of 15 Horseshoe Ridge Road, who was driving a 2014 Subaru Impreza station wagon westward on Church Hill Road, was attempting to make a left turn to enter the diner’s parking lot, when the Subaru collided with an eastbound 2000 Honda CRV SUV driven by Vasiliki Antonopoulos, 55, of 45 The Boulevard, police said.

Antonopoulos received a minor injury, police said. Gibney received an infraction for making a restricted turn, police said.

DUI Arrest

At about 9:07 pm on June 14, police received a report stating that there was an erratic driver traveling northward on South Main Street, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they located the vehicle in question at the Friendly Citgo gas station/convenience store at 151 South Main Street, after which they investigated and charged motorist Angel Merchan-Guaman, 21, of Danbury with driving under the influence.

Police released Merchan-Guaman on $500 bail for a June 30 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Warrant

After learning that police held an arrest warrant, a person went to the police station on the evening of June 12 and was charged with driving under the influence, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and making a restricted turn, police said.

Police said those charges stem from a one-vehicle accident that occurred last December 29 on New Lebbon Road. The person was under age 18 when the accident occurred, so police did not disclose the person’s identity.

Police released the person on a written promise to appear on June 29 in Danbury Juvenile Court.

Hawleyville Accident

Police report that a two-vehicle accident occurred on Mt Pleasant Road, just west of its intersection with Hawleyville Road, about 3:22 pm on June 10.

The collision involved motorist Douglas Wilson, 61, of Plainville, who was diving a 2009 Mercury Milano sedan, and Anthony Rivera, 38, of Waterbury, who was driving a truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Police gave Wilson an infraction for unsafe passing, and issued Rivera an infraction for driving without a license.

DUI Incident

Police report they saw motorist David Gorman, 57, of 39 Cherry Street driving a 2013 Nissan NV-200 cargo van erratically while traveling eastward near 34 Church Hill Road at about 11 pm on June 12, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police said they charged Gorman with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and failure to drive to the right.

After processing, police released Gorman on $100 bail for a June 26 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

After learning that police held two warrants for his arrest, Jacob Browning, 24, of Shanksville, Penn., went to the police station about 9:18 pm on June 13, and was then charged with two separate counts of second-degree failure to appear in court, police said.

The charges stem from past incidents, police said. Police said they released Browning on $6,000 bail for court appearances on June 30 and July 1.

I-84 Warrant

State police report that at about 6:40 am on June 13, they arrested Julio Munoz, 39, of Danbury on a warrant in connection with a March 24 motor vehicle accident that occurred about 11:30 pm on westbound Interstate 84.

State police charged Munoz with having an improper vehicle registration/license and with failure to have automotive insurance. Munoz was released on a written promise to appear in court on June 23.

Highway Crash

State police said that at about 9:05 am on June 12, a two-vehicle collision occurred on westbound Interstate 84, just east of the Exit 10 interchange.

The accident involved driver Jason Slater, 42, of Enfield, who was driving a 2003 Freightliner truck, and motorist Robert Gauvin, 71, of The Colony, Texas, who was driving a 2008 Infiniti M-35 sedan, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Gauvin received a verbal warning for making an unsafe lane change.

Two NHS Incidents

After learning that police held two warrants for his arrest, Eric Gibbons, 18, of 6 Bridge End Farm Lane, went to the police station about 2:20 pm on June 11, police said.

Police said they charged Gibbons with second-degree breach of peace in connection with an incident that occurred on April 20 at Newtown High School.

Also, police said they charged Gibbons with fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct in connection with an incident that occurred on April 28 at Newtown High School.

Police did not provide details on the two incidents. School Resource Officer Liam Seabrook investigated the two cases.

Police said that after arrest processing, Gibbons was released on a written promise to appear in court on the April 20 charge, and released on $5,000 nonsurety bail on the April 28 charges. Gibbons is scheduled to appear on June 26 in Danbury Superior Court to answer all three charges.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, William A. Gallo, Jr, 22, of 27 Maltbie Road went to the police station about 7:45 pm on June 17 and was charged with evading responsibility and with driving a motor vehicle without a license in connection with a March 23 accident, police said.

After processing, police released Gallo on $500 bail for a July 1 arraignment on the charges in Danbury Superior Court.
