Sandy Hook Center
Police report a two-car accident on Church Hill Road, just west of its intersection with Washington Avenue, Riverside Road, and Glen Road, at about 5:55 pm, on August 3.
Police said the collision involved motorist John Maher, 29, of Newtown, who was driving a 1999 Volvo S-70, and motorist Robert Kramer, 62, of Southbury, who was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry.
There were no injuries. Police report they verbally warned both motorists for motor vehicle violations.
Warrant
Newtown police report that on the evening of August 7, they arrested Jessica Cash, 29, of Milford on a warrant, charging her with one count of first-degree failure to appear in court in connection with a pending criminal case.
Police said that Cash was released on $5,000 bail for an August 25 appearance in New Haven Superior Court. Newtown police said that North Branford police made the original arrest against Cash on May 19.
On July 18, a judge ordered Cash's rearrest.
Hawleyville Ramp
About 5:12 pm on August 8, a two-vehicle collision occurred on eastbound Interstate 84's Exit 9 off-ramp in Hawleyville.
Motorist Patrick Sullivan, 46, of Newtown, who was driving a 2015 GMC Acadia SUV, struck the rear end of a 2004 Audi A-4 driven by Mahnaz Kani, 56, of Easton, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police verbally warned Sullivan for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Eyeglasses Found
On the morning of August 8, a person turned over to police for safekeeping a pair of reading glasses that had been found on Boggs Hill Road near its intersection with Spring Road.
The owner may claim the eyeglasses at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.
Extradition
Newtown police said that on the evening of August 11, they processed the arrest of Brittany Lockwood, 28, of Bossier City, La., charging her with violation of probation.
Police said they held Lockwood on $10,000 bail for an August 12 appearance in Danbury Superior Court. Newtown police said Danbury police originally arrested Lockwood in July 2011 and she was sentenced in May 2012.
Lockwood pleaded not guilty to the violation of probation charge at her arraignment in Danbury Superior Court. She was later released on $10,000 bail for a September 9 court appearance.
Jeep vs Dodge
A two-vehicle collision occurred at the southern intersection of South Main Street and Elm Drive about 4:34 pm on August 11, police report.
In that incident, motorist Derick Polomski, 23, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee SUV, struck the rear end of a 2012 Dodge Durango SUV driven by Esabel Destival, 39, of Newtown, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police report they verbally warned Polomski for following too closely.
Stormy Crash
Police report that motorist Zachary Aumueller, 19 of Sandy Hook, was driving a 2004 Nissan Maxima sedan eastward on Sugar Street, near its intersection with Sugar Lane, during a thunderstorm at about 10 pm on August 11, amid limited visibility conditions, when the vehicle struck a tree branch that had fallen onto the roadway, causing a tire to go flat.
Aumueller was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
I-84 Collision
On westbound Interstate 84, at about 9:50 am on August 12, motorist Kortni Campbell, 39, of Charlotte, N.C., who was driving a 2012 Audi A-4, was slowing for heavy traffic and the Audi was then struck from behind by Courtney Perkins, 23, of Beacon Falls, who was driving a 2001 Honda Accord, according to state police.
There were no injuries. Perkins received a written warning for following too closely, state police said.
Sandy Hook Crash
Police report that motorist Katherine Moran, 17, of Newtown was driving a 2003 Volvo XC-90 northward on Glen Road, just north of its intersection with Church Hill Road, at about 2:32 pm on August 12, as motorist Andrew Delventhal, 24, of Shelton was driving a 1995 Honda Civic southward there.
The Volvo then attempted to make a left turn to enter a driveway at 5 Glen Road, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Moran a written warning.
Flagpole Intersection
At about 4:23 pm on August 12, on the Church Hill Road leg of the Main Street flagpole intersection, motorist Joseph Rebecco, 50, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2007 Jeep Commander SUV, struck the rear end of a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by Michele Kenny, 42, of Southbury, according to police.
There were no injuries. Rebecco received an infraction for following too closely, police report.
Sedan vs Truck
Alexander Smith, 23, of East Haddam, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck westward on Interstate 84, about one-half mile east of Exit 10, at about 4:48 pm on August 12, was slowing for heavy traffic, when the Ford was struck from behind by motorist Kyle Ryen, 19, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry sedan, state police report.
There were no injuries. Ryen received an infraction for following too closely, state police said.
Interstate Accident
At about 7:12 pm on August 14, motorist Jay Geib, 74, of Bethel, who was driving a 2009 Honda Accord on westbound Interstate 84, near the Exit 10 interchange, struck the rear end of a 2014 BMW 328 driven by Umil Dhruv, 25, of Lawrenceville, Ga., state police report.
There were no injuries. State police issued Geib an infraction for following too closely.
SUV vs SUV
A collision involving two SUVs occurred on westbound Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Pole Bridge Road, about 7:51 am, on August 15.
In that incident, motorist Laura Rivnyak, 55, of Oxford, who was driving a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, stopped and was then struck from behind by motorist Aderito Seara, 41, of Seymour, who was driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police report they verbally warned Seara for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
