Police Arrest Man On Five Felonies In Sex Assault Case
Police said they arrested a prison inmate on July 7 on five felony charges stemming from his allegedly having had illegal sexual contact with a female under age 18 in Newtown.
Police said they went to Danbury Superior Court that morning where they served an arrest warrant against Peter Filosi, 32, whose last known address was an unspecified residence on Sugar Street (Route 302).
Police arrested Filosi on two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of risk of injury or impairing the morals of a minor through illegal sexual contact, and one count of first-degree unlawful restraint.
Police disclosed few details concerning Filosi’s arrest on the five sex-related felonies other than to say in a statement that Filosi allegedly “sexually assaulted a female juvenile multiple times from about February 1, 2013, to about December 18, 2014.” Police provided no other details.
Filosi currently is being held as a prisoner in the Corrigan building at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center in Uncasville, where he is serving a two-year sentence on a conviction for violation of probation stemming from unrelated charges.
On March 2 police received a sexual assault complaint against Filosi, which they investigated, resulting in the court’s issuance of a warrant for his arrest on the five charges.
Filosi did not enter pleas to the five charges at his July 7 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court. He is scheduled to return to court on August 4.
