DUI Warrant
DUI Warrant
Police report that early on the morning of May 23, they served an arrest warrant in Bridgeport against Richard Bretton, 47, of 12 Blue Spruce Road, whom they wanted on charges in connection with a motor vehicle accident that occurred late on the night of February 5.
Police charged Bretton with driving under the influence, driving while under suspension, and interfering with police.
The charges stemmed from an accident that occurred near the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps garage, police said. After that February accident, Bretton was transported to Danbury Hospital, after which police sought the arrest warrant.
Following processing on May 23, police released Bretton from custody on $20,000 bail for a June 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Arrest
Police said they investigated an incident at about 12:30 am May 23 in which motorist Monica Torres, 20, of 54 Platts Hill Road drove into the I-84 commuter parking lot on Hawleyville Road with a vehicle which had a freshly damaged front end.
Police said they then learned that Torres had been involved in a one-car accident about 30 minutes earlier on Palestine Road.
Police said they charged Torres with driving under the influence, possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle by a minor, and making a restricted turn.
Following processing, police released Torres on $100 bail for a June 6 court appearance.
Honda Hits Tree
Motorist John OâBrien, 19, of 27 Old Farm Hill Road was driving a 2003 Honda Accord sedan eastward near 96 Castle Hill Road about 2:30 am May 22, when he encountered a deer and then swerved to avoid a collision, but struck a tree along the westbound road shoulder, police report.
OâBrien was injured in the collision and then transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated, police said. No enforcement was taken.
Multiple Charges
Police said they saw motorist Sarah Denicola, 22, of 5 Tamarack Road, driving a 1998 Toyota Camry westward on Mt Pleasant Road without functioning brake lights about 10:20 pm May 22, after which they stopped the vehicle on Hawleyville Road to investigate.
Police charged Denicola with failure to have functioning brake lamps, driving with a suspended license, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After processing, police released Denicola on $100 bail for a June 5 court appearance.
Big Y Incident
UPDATE: Information received by The Newtown Bee, December 10, 2020, indicates that all charges in this case against Jenna Fiore were dropped and court files destroyed, dated July 12, 2010.
Police said they went to the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street about 6:45 pm May 24, after receiving a report that there had been a shoplifting incident there.
Police said an investigation indicated that Jenna Fiore, 18, of Southbury had stolen approximately $70 worth of merchandise from the store. Police said they also found Fiore to be in possession of illegal drugs.
Police said they charged her with sixth-degree larceny, plus three drug possession counts, including possession of a controlled substance/possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.
After posting $100 bail, police released Fiore for a June 11 court arraignment on the charges.
Vandalism
Sometime on May 25 or May 26, someone vandalized decorative lighting fixtures that are positioned at the end of driveways on Castle Hill Road and on Taunton Hill Road, police said.
Police are investigating the two instances of criminal mischief and ask anyone who knows who committed the property damage to contact patrol Officer Todd Dingee at the police station at 426-5841.
DUI Charge
About 2:20 am May 23, police said they spotted a vehicle traveling fast near 46 Church Hill Road, which did not have illumination for its rear marker plate, so they stopped the driver to investigate.
Police gave the motorist sobriety tests, after which they lodged charges of driving under the influence, traveling too fast for conditions, and failure to illuminate a rear marker plate against Stephen Prorock, 21, of 3 Webster Place.
Following processing, Prorock posted $100 bail for a June 6 court appearance.
Audi Vs Dodge
Motorist Ralph Ferraro, 53, of 10 Hickory Lane, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Caravan minivan eastward near 98 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center about 9:30 am May 22, slowed for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by eastbound motorist William Murphy, 27, of Redding, who was driving a 2005 Audi A-4 sedan, police said.
Ferraro refused medical treatment, police said. Murphy received a written warning for following too closely.
Truck Vs Truck
Motorist Tibor Bizer, 54, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck southward on South Main Street near Abbey Lane about 5:50 am May 27, slowed for traffic conditions and was hit from behind by southbound truck driver Robert Morrarty, 59, of 53 Parmalee Hill Road, who was driving a 2001 Kenworth T-800 tractor-trailer truck behind the Ford, police said.
Bizer reported head/neck pain and was checked on the scene by ambulance personnel, but refused hospital transport, police said.
Morrarty received a written warning for following too closely, police said.
Highway DUI
State police report that they stopped motorist Armando Gallucci, 43, of Monroe on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, to investigate at about 12:01 am May 26, after which they charged him with driving under the influence, speeding, and failure to carry a driverâs license.
State police released Gallucci on $500 bail for a June 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Interstate DUI
About 4:50 am May 24, state police stopped motorist Jonte T. Jones, 25, of Meriden on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, to investigate.
State police then charged Jones with driving under the influence, reckless driving, and driving while under suspension.
Jones was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges.
DUI Arrest
State police report that after stopping motorist Patrick Parker, 24, of Waterbury at about 12:10 am May 24 on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, they determined that he was intoxicated.
State police charged Parker with driving under the influence and with speeding. Parker was scheduled to appear in court to answer the charges
DUI Case
Late on the night of May 24, state police saw motorist Julio Feliciano, 34, of Waterbury driving at a high speed on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 11, so they stopped him to investigate.
State police charged Feliciano with driving under the influence, speeding, and driving while under suspension.
Feliciano is scheduled to appear in court on June 9.

I-84 Collision
About 10:50 pm May 22, a motorist identified by state police only as Ms Comerford-Mathison, 38, of 54 Hanover Road, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, was entering eastbound Interstate 84 from the Exit 10 on-ramp, when the Chevrolet collided with a 2004 Jeep Cherokee that was traveling on the highway, state police said.
Motorist Hilda Ortega, 39, of Southbury drove the Jeep, which carried four passengers, state police said.
The people involved in the accident refused medical attention, state police said.
State police said Comerford-Mathison committed two moving violations.
Sandy Hook Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Wasserman Way and Berkshire Road about 4 pm May 19.
The accident involved motorist Marc Landolfi, 25, of 23 Sherman Street, who was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage coupe, and motorist Adelino Santos, 59, of Danbury, who was driving a 1991 Toyota truck, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Landolfi a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Mt Pleasant Road
Police report an accident involving three vehicles near the driveway entrance to 172 Mt Pleasant Road about 3:50 pm May 19.
The accident involved motorist Elizabeth Espinoza, 22, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Jeep SUV, motorist Carlos Pires, 45, of Danbury, who was driving a 1999 Ford sedan, and motorist Dawn Williams, 29, of Jacklin Road, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet sedan, police said.
There were no injuries.
Police said they issued Espinoza an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way and for driving without a license. Police verbally warned Pires for following too closely.
DUI Charge
Police report that motorist Christie Daniels, 22, of 45 Bennetts Bridge Road was involved in a one-car accident early on the morning of May 24 at the intersection of Walnut Tree Hill Road and Alberts Hills Road.
Daniels collided with a utility pole and some guardrailing, after which she left the scene of the accident, according to police.
Police said they located Daniels at her home and investigated, charging her with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and making an improper turn.
After processing the case, police released Daniels on $250 bail for a June 10 arraignment on the charges at Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Arrest
Police said that at about 2:11 am May 24, they spotted motorist Jessica Dugan, 18, of 6 Fox Run Lane driving a 1998 Hyundai Tiburon northward on South Main Street. Police said Dugan made a wide left turn to enter Elm Drive, but then turned back onto South Main Street. Police said they stopped her to investigate near South Main Streetâs intersection with Borough Lane.
Police report they charged Dugan with driving under the influence by a minor, making a restricted turn, and failure to renew a vehicle registration.
After processing, police released Dugan on $100 bail for a June 10 court appearance.
Probation Charge
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Richard Soderquist, 58, of 15 Dayton Street turned himself in at the police station on the night of May 27 and was charged with violation of probation.
Police said the charges stem from an original incident involving a dispute that occurred in July 2007 on Edgelake Drive.
After processing, police released Soderquist on a written promise to appear in court on June 11.
