Phyllis E. Hogan
Phyllis E. Hogan, 87, longtime resident of Sandy Hook, formerly of Simsbury and Edgewater, Fla., died peacefully May 5, with family by her side. She was born in Concord, Mass., March 25, 1929, a daughter of the late Portia E. (Hardy) and Tracy Howard S. Tracy. Her husband Gerald J. Hogan predeceased Mrs Hogan.
SheÃÂ grew up in Acton, Mass., and graduated high school in Raymond, N.H., where she was the captain of the cheerleading team.
She enjoyed working alongside her dad in the family business. Mrs Hogan was assistant to Dr Helene Blakesly in West Hartford, worked at Danbury Hospital, and for the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation.
She loved to travel in and out of the United States, and was happiest surrounded by the mountains of New Hampshire and the Atlantic coastline.ÃÂ She was a hospice volunteer at Healing Hearts in Danbury, and was a member of the Garden Club of Newtown.
She leaves behind four children and spouses, Patricia A. and Michael P. Shannon of Sandy Hook, Cathleen Derosier of Conway, S.C., Charles T. and Elizabeth Peaslee of Guilford, and Donna M. Peaslee of Cheshire; and daughter-in-law Cynthia Peaslee of Seymour. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. She was the eldest of eight siblings including three brothers, Charles, Howard, and Alfred Tracy; and five sisters, Mary Reed, Beulah Bailey, Ruthann Bailey, Pauline Jones, and Mable Tracy. Two sons, Dennis M. Peaslee and Bruce E. Peaslee, predeceased her.
Mrs Hogan was loved by everyone whose lives she touched throughout her long and happy life, and will forever be missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
