Dennis R. Adler

Dennis R. Adler, 71, of Sandy Hook, husband of Nada (Ashkenas) Adler, died on June 26 at his home.

Mr Adler was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on January 16, 1945, and was a son of the late Edith (Slanger) and Frederick Adler. In 1954, when he was 9, his family relocated to Danbury from Brooklyn, and his parents established Adler's Dress Shop. He attended local schools and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1963. He then attended the University of Bridgeport.

Mr Adler was president of the Gold Leaf Insurance Agency of Danbury and had been employed as an insurance agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

He served with the US Army National Guard, enjoyed golf, trains, cars, photograph, and music.

Mr Adler was a member of Congregation B'Nai Israel of Danbury and served as chairman of its Children of Israel Cemetery.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, his son, Fred Adler, and his wife Fernanda, of Riverside, Conn.; his daughter Leah Adler, and her partner Stu Epstein, of Cromwell, Conn.; and a brother, Leonard Adler of Pompano Beach, Fla., survive him.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 28, at 11 am, in Congregation B'Nai Israel, 193 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, with Rabbi Nelly Altenburger officiating. Interment will follow in the Children of Israel Cemetery, Miry Brook Road, Danbury.

Contributions in Mr Adler's memory may be made to Congregation B'Nai Israel, 193 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury CT 06811. A period of mourning and minyan will be announced.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
