Due to the accident that occurred on South Main Street (Route 25) near its intersection with Cold Spring Road at about noon on Friday, August 25, a section of South Main Street in that area remains closed, as rush hour approaches, to through-traffic. Utility lines have fallen requiring extensive repairs.

The state Department of Transportation has set up detours for through-traffic traveling on Route 25.

Through-traffic traveling southward on Route 25 in Newtown is being detoured to Mile Hill Road, then to Wasserman Way, then to Berkshire Road (Route 34), then to Route 111 in Monroe, and then back to Route 25 in Trumbull.

Northbound traffic on Route 25 is following the same detour in reverse.
