Tammy Jane Hazen
Tammy Jane Hazen, 54, of Newtown died peacefully December 10 at Danbury Hospital. She was born April 3, 1961, in Sanford, Maine, and was the daughter of the late Janice and Elwood Tuttle.
She went to Seymour High School and Stone School of Business. Ms Hazen was a secretary in the land use office of the Town of Newtown for the past eight years.
She had a passion for art and an unbelievable faith in God. She is remembered by those who knew her as one of the strongest people, beyond selfless, who always cared about everyone before herself. Ms Hazen loved everyone unconditionally, and showed others to look for the best in people. She also showed all of those around her to love life for its simplicity, and to always give without ever expecting anything in return. Everyone who met her was greeted with the world’s largest, warmest hug, and instantly gained a friend.
Her devoted and loving husband Carl R. Hazen; her children John and Sara Hazen; her brother David, his wife Karen, and their two children; as well as Mr Hazen’s siblings and family survive Ms Hazen. Her Maine “family” and Town of Newtown “family” also survive her. Her brother Danny and his wife Roberta preceded Ms Hazen in death.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff on the 11th floor of Danbury Hospital for taking such great care of Ms Hazen.
Ms Hazen was grateful to the people of the town for their support over the past couple of years, a sentiment she had hoped to share in an interview with The Newtown Bee that was precluded by her death.
An open house celebration of her life will be hosted by the family, Saturday, December 19, from 1 to 6 pm, at 24 Toddy Hill Road, Sandy Hook. All are welcome.
