Warren C. Lafferty, 85, died peacefully November 24, surrounded by his family. He was born in Danbury, son of the late Madelyn (Staib) and Walter C. Lafferty. He lived most of his life in Bethel, often reminiscing that he attended one of America’s one-room schoolhouses, Plumtrees School House.

His wife of 32 years, Lucy Lafferty; his seven children and their spouses, Tammy and Daniel Kearns of Newtown, Catherine and Mark Schupack of Southbury, Beverly and Craig Brown of Orem, Utah, Warren C. Lafferty, Jr, and wife Debbie, of Pelham, N.H., Wendy and Patrick Hennessey of Lakebay, Wash., Kevin and Valerie Lafferty of Decorah, Iowa, and Brien and Paula Lafferty of Hudson, N.H.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog survive Mr Lafferty.

Mr Lafferty enjoyed music and was very involved in the heyday of the local drum corps. He was a member of Danbury Drum Corps, Newtown Striders, and Bethel’s Grassy Plain Drum Corps, in various capacities. A self-declared musician, it was really the existence of a local town civic organization with close ties to the volunteer fire departments in small New England towns that he loved the most.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, on Sunday, November 29, from 3 to 6 pm. The funeral will be celebrated at the First Congregational Church, 46 Main Street, Bethel, Monday, November 30,  at 10 am. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Route 302, Bethel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran Home of Southbury, 990 Main Street North, Southbury CT 06488.
