Get A Jump On The Guggenheim
DANBURY â This fall, the Guggenheim Museum in New York City will be showing the work of the artist/illustrator Norman Rockwell in a traveling exhibition. To complement the show, Wooster Community Art Center in Danbury is offering an art history class entitled âNorman Rockwell: American Artist.â
Rockwellâs perceptive images have long been popular with readers of The Saturday Evening Post and other magazines, and lately have been receiving acclaim from respected art critics.
Taught by Dr Virginia Bush, the WCAC class will survey Rockwellâs work, the traditions behind it, and its merits and limitations. Dr Bush received her PhD in art history from Columbia University and has taught at City College (New York City), Rutgers University (N.J.) and Union College (Schenectady). She has also written and lectured widely on many topics.
The class is set for Monday, July 23, from 7 to 9 pm. Cost is $18 per person.
Classes at WCAC are held in air-conditioned, well-equipped studios. WCAC is at 73 Miry Brook Road, near Danbury Fair Mall. For more information or to register, call 744-4825.
