The public, family, and friends are invited to a celebration in honor of the life of Julia B. Wasserman, Saturday, September 26, adjacent to the Newtown Municipal Center, D.G. Beers Drive, Fairfield Hills, from 2 to 5 pm. A program will take place at 3 pm.

Mrs Wasserman, Newtown's state representative for 18 years until her retirement in 2008, died August 18.

She also served on the Newtown Legislative Council, the Conservation/Wetlands Commission, the Sewer Avoidance Committee, the Fairfield County Soil and Water Conservation District, and as legislator, on the Fairfield Hills Oversight Committee. She was a member of the Newtown League of Women Voters for many years and owner of Medridge Farm Christmas Trees in Sandy Hook.
