Gwendolyn “Gwen” M. Blaskewicz, 76, of Monroe, died peacefully September 16, at Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital in New York City, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 26, 1939, in Derby, to Charles Paul and Anna M. DuBail Clapp.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Jo-Anne Smith of Newtown and Richard and his wife, Antoinette, of Monroe; her sister, Elma Smith and her husband, Matthew, of Avon; and her grandchildren Jacob Carl, Nicole Anna, Luke Emanuel, Zachary Paul, and Nathan John; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her beloved husband of 44 years, Carl J. Blaskewicz, predeceased her.

Mrs Blaskewicz graduated from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her LPN license and went on to serve at various health care facilities.

She was an avid gardener and a devote member of Beacon Hill Evangelical Free Church of Monroe. As a dedicated and loving mother she will forever be remembered for her love of life, faith, and family.

Funeral services took place September 21. Interment was at Monroe Center Cemetery, Old Tannery Road, Monroe.
