John Arnold Beckett, 85, a ten-year resident of Danbury, and former 26-year resident of Ridgefield, died at the Bethel Health Center August 22, following a long illness. He was born in Battle Creek, Mich., February 12, 1930.

His wife, Nancy Johansen Beckett of Danbury; sons and spouses James S. and Mandy Beckett of Sandy Hook, Thomas L. Beckett and Barbara Bakos of Kent, Ohio, and John J. and Jodi Beckett of New Milford; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren survive Mr Beckett. A daughter, Amy L. Jones, predeceased him.

Mr Beckett graduated from Michigan State University, worked for many years at the Eaton Corporation and was a vice president at Duracell in Bethel.

He was a member of the Wilton Baptist Church, the Ridgefield Men’s Club, and Ridgefield Golf Club. Mr Beckett was an avid fisherman and golfer.

Friends will be received Tuesday, August 25, from 5 to 8 pm, at Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Funeral services will take on Wednesday, August 26, at 10:30 am, at the Wilton Baptist Church, 254 Danbury Road, Wilton. Interment will be private.
