'Thumbelina' At Ridgefield Playhouse
âThumbelinaâ At Ridgefield Playhouse
RIDGEFIELD â Thumbelina is no bigger than your thumb, but Theater IV will present a production this month that will be nine feet tall. The company will be at The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and Performing Arts on Saturday, November 22, for performances at 11 am and 2 pm.
Part of The Playhouses Pepsi Childrenâs Series, the musical production is by Theatre IV and, of course, the author is the beloved Hans Christian Andersen.
Thumbelina, based on the much-loved fairy tale of heroism by Hans Christian Anderson, comes happily to life in a joyous musical adaptation. While Thumbelina is not the size of most girls her age, she certainly can do lots of extremely different things â like fit into small places.
Many delightful adventures take place with Thumbelina and her friends (the toad, fish, field mouse, mole and swallow) in natureâs tiny, enchanted world. And along the way, she learns about hope with the help of her friends.
Theatre IV is a nonprofit, professional theatre for young audiences based in Richmond, Va., and Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1975, it has toured nationwide as well as presenting productions in their home cities and in schools. Bruce Miller, Theatre IV Artistic Director, recently received the Leadership in Arts instruction Award from the Virginia Board of Education and the Commission for the Arts.
Tickets to Thumbelina are $15 for all seats for each performance.
