Don F. Switser
Don F. Switser, 83, of Sandy Hook, and formerly of Newfane, Vt., and Fairfield, died peacefully at home November 9, surrounded by loving family. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Marilyn (Lynch) Switser. He was born October 26, 1933, to Evelyn (Pratt) and Earl Switser.
He served honorably in the US Marines and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr Switser enjoyed a lengthy retirement after serving many years as a firefighter with the town of Fairfield. He enjoyed travel and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved all things outdoors, including skiing, bike riding, and canoeing and had a special love of camping.
In addition to his wife, his sister, Theresa Dillon of Chicopee, Mass.; his daughter, Deborah Russell of Sandy Hook; and sons, Don F. Switser, Jr, of Fairfield, David A. Switser and his wife, Deborah, of Stratford, and Douglas M. Switser and his wife, Dawn, of Weeki Wachee, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and six great-grandchildren survive him and will cherish his memory. His brothers, Harry and Earl, predeceased him.
Friends may greet the family on Saturday, November 19, from 11 am to noon, followed by a brief memorial with Marine Military Honors, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
