Constance Ilowitz

Constance Dorothy Honig Ilowitz, 90, of Bridgeport, died  November 18 at Jewish Senior Services.

Her daughter, Amy, and son-in-law, Robert Singer, of Newtown; her sons, Peter Ilowitz of Manhattan, and Andrew Ilowitz of Westport; grandson Joshua Singer and his wife, Mandy, of Shelton; granddaughter Jessica Brown, and her husband, Shawn, of Amsterdam, N.Y.; her great-granddaughter; as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins survive her.

She was born and grew up on University Avenue in the Bronx. She married Leo Ilowitz and moved to Connecticut, where she was active in B'nai Brith and Hadassah and was a charter member of Congregation B'nai Torah in Trumbull.

In addition to raising a family and working part-time, she was always involved in local theater, including the Polka Dot Playhouse and The Shakespeare Theater. She soon pursued a professional acting career, landing small parts in movies, on stage, and on soap operas. She was a member of SAG/AFTRA and the Norwalk Theater Artists Workshop. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.

Ms Ilowitz was known for her generous and loving nature, her strength of character and strong opinions, her love of travel and adventure, and her fierce loyalty to those she loved.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, November 21, at 1 pm at the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following at the Loyalty Cemetery, 172 Burroughs Road, Fairfield.
