Carmine Tiso
Carmine Dominick Tiso, 90, of Sandy Hook died November 25 at his home. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Santangelo) Tiso. He was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., August 22, 1926, son of Italian American immigrants Amelia and Cosmo Tiso.
He graduated from Edison High School in Mount Vernon, where he was a multisport athlete and played league ball in Mount Vernon for the Stormers.
Mr Tiso served in the Army during World War II, stationed at Fort Dix as a medic, and played baseball for the base team.
After working for the Westinghouse Corp, he went on to found his own business, Tiso Appliance in Pelham, N.Y., which remains under family operation.
His daughter, Patricia A. Fragola, and her husband, Peter, of Bethel; son, John Tiso, and his wife, Lauren, of Amherst, N.H.; sister, Antoinette "Dolly" Scorca; six grandchildren, Peter Fragola, Vinny Fragola, Tricia Kershaw, Danny Tiso, Nick Tiso, and Kati Tiso; one great-grandson; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends survive him. In addition to his wife and parents, his son, Frank J. Tiso, and sisters, Mary Corrado and Ann Figliuzzi, predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, on November 28. Burial followed at St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
