Sezaltina Silva

Sezaltina “Tina” Silva, 91, died July 27, with her family by her side. Born in Ludlow, Mass., December 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Rosa Ribas Pinheiro and Joao Silva Pinheiro.

She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Roseann Hanson, and husband Gary, of Newtown; her son-in-law, Thomas Cieplik of Indian Orchard, Mass.; six grandchildren, John Cieplik, and wife Lynn, Lynne Peluso, and husband Joseph, all of Ludlow, Tina Cronin, and husband Mark, of Trumbull, Amy Hanson of Boca Raton, Fla., Steven Cieplik, and his partner Chip Murdock, of Orlando, Fla., and Erica Belden, and husband Keith, of Monroe; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Hall of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Her beloved husband of 61 years, Silvino “Sal” Silva; her beloved daughter, Maria Cieplik; her sisters, Sara Adao, Fernanda Gebhardt, and Maria Pinheiro; and a brother, Arthur Pinheiro, predeceased Mrs Silva. Her death is the last of three sisters, Tina 91, Sara 101, and Fern, 94, who all passed within two months of each other. Friends come and go but sisters are forever.

Mrs Silva was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed making chicken soup and Portuguese rice for her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going out to eat, and being with her family who loved her so very much. She was a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

The family would like to thank all the staff at St Vincent Medical Center who cared for Mrs Silva, but especially in her final days, the angels of 10 South.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral, Friday, July 31, at 9 am, in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, and at 10 am, in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday, July 30, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home.
