Jean Irene Griffin, 86, of Newtown, formerly of Massena, N.Y., died peacefully in her sleep December 3.

She was a beloved mother of five and devoted wife to Robert James Griffin.

When not raising her family, Mrs Griffin enjoyed get-togethers with her sisters and friends, golfing, and tending to her wonderful flower garden.

Sons Scott Griffin of Newtown and Timothy Griffin of Rogersville, Tenn.; her daughter Susan Mullarney of Glenville, N.Y.; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive Mrs Griffin. Her passing was preceded by her husband and sons Robert "Butch" and Patrick Griffin.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Filosa Convalescent Home in Danbury for their heartfelt care for Mrs Griffin.

"You treated Mom like family and for that we are forever grateful. Mom, thank you for giving us these years with you, and thank you for holding our hands. We love you."

Calling hours will take place Friday, December 9, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
