Larceny Arrest

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, John Dubyoski, 55, of Shelton went to the police station about 5 pm on April 7, and was arrested on a charge of first-degree larceny, which is a Class B felony.

Police said they conducted an investigation in the case based on a complaint that they received.

Dubyoski allegedly was paid to supply an in-ground fiberglass swimming pool shell valued at $24,000, but did not provide the pool shell to the buyer, police said. Such pool shells also are known as pre-fabricated pools.

After arrest processing, police released Dubyoski on $5,000 bail for an April 21 court appearance.

Sandy Hook DUI

Police said that at about 8:24 pm on April 2, they received a report concerning a motor vehicle accident having occurred near the intersection of High Rock Road and Gray's Plain Road in Sandy Hook, so they went there to investigate.

Police said they determined that motorist Keith Guillette, 24, of Oxford had driven a vehicle off the roadway, but had not collided with any object.

After investigating, police charged Guillette with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. Following processing, police released Guillette on $100 bail for an April 19 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.

Main Street Crash

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Main Street, near the police station, at about 4:48 pm on April 7.

Police said that southbound motorist Melissa Gardiner, 35, of 6 High Bridge Road, who was driving a 2011 Toyota RAV-4 SUV, stopped for a red traffic signal, after which the Toyota was struck from behind by southbound motorist Christopher Barbara, 54, of Brewster, N.Y., who was driving a 2006 Dodge Caravan minivan.

There were no injuries. Barbara received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Intersection Collision

A two-vehicle accident took place at the intersection of Church Hill Road and westbound Interstate 84's Exit 10 off-ramp at about 7 am on April 6, according to police said.

The accident involved motorist Clare Boyle, 17, of 5 Meadow Road, who was driving a 2004 Buick Park Avenue sedan, and motorist David Ortiz, 20, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Boyle an infraction for failure to obey a traffic signal.

Shoplifting

Police said they received a report about 6 pm on March 28, informing them of a shoplifting incident that had occurred at Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street (State Route 25).

In that incident, a man and a woman stole more than $140 worth of Red Bull, a canned energy drink.

Police described the man as white, in his late 20s, with a solid build, and about six feet tall. The woman was described as white, in her mid-20s, with long, dark curly hair.

After the theft, both people left the store's parking lot in a silver/white SUV which has a roof rack, police said. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone, 203-426-5841, in reference to Case #6691.

Probation Violation

Police report that after learning that Dakota France, 25, of 56 Riverside Road was at a commercial property at 5 Queen Street, at about 7 pm on April 8, they went there and charged him on a warrant listing one count of violation of probation in connection with a past incident.

Following arrest processing, police released France on $10,000 bail, scheduling him for an April 19 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Mercury Vs Honda

State police report a two-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 84's Exit 10 off-ramp about 8:43 am on April 5.

Motorist Robert Gemignani, 52, of Milford, who was driving a 2015 Honda Pilot SUV, stopped for a red traffic signal and was then struck from behind by motorist Joann Horwath, 51, of Southbury, who was driving a 2008 Mercury Milan sedan, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said they verbally warned Horwath for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Into The Rails

Motorist Yodalis Rey, 25, of New Haven was driving a 1997 Mazda Protégé westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, about 8 am on April 5, when she drove off the left road shoulder and then struck some guardrailing, state police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Rey to Danbury Hospital to be checked for pain, state police said. Rey received an infraction for failure to drive in the established lane, according to state police.

Old Bethel Road

Police said that on April 11, they responded to a residential property on Old Bethel Road, near the Bethel town line, after receiving a report of a theft having occurred there.

Through an investigation, police learned that during the past few weeks, several larcenies had occurred at the property involving the theft of tools and building materials.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the incidents to contact investigating Officer Fernando Pereira at the police station at 203-426-5841 in reference to Case #7399.

DUI Arrest

Police said that based on a complaint that they received at about 5:28 pm on April 8, they stopped a black Toyota Camry sedan that was being driven near the intersection of Church Hill Road and The Boulevard.

After investigating, police said they charged motorist James Ryan, 56, of 22 The Boulevard with driving under the influence. After processing, police released Ryan on $100 bail for an April 21 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

Police report that on April 12 they arrested Aaron Lyons, 23, of Danbury on a warrant, charging him with sixth-degree larceny and with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Police said the charges stem from a theft that occurred last August 25 at TJ Maxx, a department store at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street.

After processing, police released Lyons on a written promise to appear in court on April 26.

Truck Hits Guardrails

Motorist Brian Carriero, 17, of Monroe was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck northward on The Boulevard, near its intersection with Hall Lane, at about 9 pm on April 11, when the vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp curve in the road near 53 The Boulevard, police said.

The truck struck some guardrailing along the southbound road shoulder, police said. There were no injuries. Police report they issued Carriero an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

Burglary/Larceny

Police said they received a report about 6:18 pm on April 10 concerning a residential burglary/larceny that had occurred on Willow Brook Lane, a dead-end street that extends from Boggs Hill Road.

Police said they went to the residence and learned that someone had stolen multiple pieces of jewelry from the premises. Police are investigating the crime.

Police report that at about 4:12 pm on April 11, motorist Autumn Aragi, 16, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro Z convertible eastward on Church Hill Road, attempted to make a left turn to enter The Boulevard. Aragi made too wide a turn and she lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it climbing an embankment on The Boulevard's right road shoulder, police said. The auto then struck a small pole and landed on a pile of rocks, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Aragi a written warning for making a restricted turn. (Bee Photo, Hicks)
Police report that at about 3:15 am on April 9, motorist John Aminti, 25, of Boston was driving a 2007 Hyundai Tucson SUV eastward on Church Hill Road, near its intersection with Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook Center, when the vehicle drove off the road to the right and struck some curbing and a stone wall. There were no injuries. Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company firefighters responded to the scene. Police said they issued Aminti an infraction for making a restricted turn.
