Anthony Amerigo Brighenti

Anthony "Tony" Amerigo Brighenti, 92, of Wethersfield, died at his home on January 19, with his loving daughter by his side. He was the widower of Adeline (Pinto) Brighenti. He was born in Italy on June 28, 1924, son of the late Elisa (Pilati) and Joseph M. Brighenti and immigrated to America with his parents at the age of 3.

His daughter, Anne Sadlon, and her husband, Richard, of Sandy Hook; his brother, Ben Brighenti, and his wife, Nina, of Rocky Hill; his two adored grandchildren, Elana A. Sadlon and Richard A. Sadlon of Sandy Hook; as well as several nieces and nephews, survive Mr Brighenti. In addition to his wife Adeline, his son, Anthony Joseph Brighenti, and his sister, Mary Brighenti Sciarra, predeceased him.

He attended Hartford Public High School and upon graduating, he went off to serve his country in World War II after just turning 18. He was seriously injured on D Day +1 and recovered in a hospital in England for three months, and was awarded a Purple Heart. After being transferred to the Philippines for a few months, he returned home to the love of his life, Adeline, and they were married in 1947. They moved to Wethersfield in 1954, where he lived for the rest of his life. He retired from the Research Lab of Pratt and Whitney in 1989 after a successful 35-year career. Introduced to golf at the age of 10, while caddying at Rockledge Country Club, it became a lifelong hobby and source of enjoyment that he shared with family and friends.

Funeral service will begin Friday, January 27, at 10:45 am, from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 26, from 4 to 8 pm, at the funeral chapel.
