John Garrison, 78, a resident of Newtown since 2013, and formerly of Stamford and other Connecticut cities, Block Island, R.I., and Englewood, Fla., died peacefully in his sleep April 12.

He spent much of his childhood in Greenwich, and attended the University of Connecticut. After college he enlisted in the US Army, and served in the military police.

Mr Garrison was the former president and owner of John Garrison Real Estate in Stamford.

His wife, Patricia, and his children and grandchildren survive Mr Garrison.

There will be a private service for the immediate family.
