Jennifer Skemp O’Grady, 72, of Sandy Hook died March 22 surrounded by her family, after a long and well-fought battle with lung disease. She was born March 2, 1943, in Chicago to Mrs and Mr Robert Oliver Skemp. 

She grew up in Westport and graduated from Greens Farms Academy. She summered in Sagaponack, Long Island, as a child, and continued to do so with her family throughout her life. Recently she and her husband purchased a family dream home in Amagansett, overlooking Napeague Harbor.

Some of Mrs O’Grady’s passions included world travel, her grandchildren, taking care of her animal friends, and volunteering as a broadcaster for her local fine arts radio station, WMNR, for more than 25 years.

Her husband of nearly 52 years, Terence J O’Grady; four children and five grandchildren, Terence O. and Nancy O’Grady and their son Declan, John P. and Christine O’Grady and their children Kayla and Rachel, and Catherine E. O’Grady, her husband Joseph Stromsky, and their children Jenna Mae and Joseph, all of Sandy Hook, and Robert E. O’Grady of Florida; her sister, Susan Skemp Crandall of Portland, Ore.; and her brother, Eric Tate Skemp of Cathlamet, Wash., survive Mrs O’Grady.
