David Lawrence Johnson of Newtown died peacefully in his sleep during the morning of March 5, after a pleasant evening with his family. He was the son of Isabelle Hecket Johnson and Jack Raymond Johnson.

His wife of 63 years, Marie Hall Johnson; his children and their spouses, Brad and Linda Johnson, Allan and Susan Johnson, Steve and Elizabeth Johnson, and Sandra Valente; his grandchildren and their spouses, Natalie and Lane Thomas, Ryan and Nicole Johnson, Ian Johnson, Jessica Johnson, Henry Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Courtney Suszynski, and Alexio Valente; and his great-granddaughter survive him. His granddaughter Amy Johnson predeceased him.

He grew up in Norwalk, and graduated from Norwalk High School and the University of Bridgeport. He lived for 15 years in Georgetown, before moving to Newtown and was very active in the Little League in both towns. He was very involved in the Wilton Pony Club and loved caring for his favorite horse, Lively Lady. He loved his many trips down the Intracoastal Waterway as his friend's first mate. He was a longtime member of MENSA and an avid student of history.

Mr Johnson worked for many years as an accountant and was retired from his position as controller of the Larsen Fund.

Friends may call the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Thursday, March 9, from 4 to 7 pm.
