Cecile Thuotte Labrecque

Cecile Thuotte Labrecque, 91, a resident at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury, and formerly of Venice, Fla., and Stratford, died peacefully March 18 with her son Ronald at her side, after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Anna Garneau Thuotte and Ovide Thuotte, she was born April 13, 1923, in Westbrook, Maine. 

Her sons and their wives, Ronald and Lenora of Sandy Hook, John and Wini of Cabot, Penn., and Douglas and Gina of Milford; two grandchildren, Michelle Labrecque Haddad, and her husband Jeffrey, of Southbury and Justin Labrecque, and his wife Wyndi, of Woodstock, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren survive Mrs Labrecque. She married Jean Paul Labrecque, September 2, 1942, at a military base in Mississippi prior to his deployment to the South Pacific during World War II. He predeceased her in 1983. A brother, Victor, and sister, Dorothy, also predeceased Mrs Labrecque.

She was a graduate of Westbrook High School and was employed at S.D. Warren in Westbrook.

In 1952, her husband began his career with Sikorsky and they moved to Connecticut. She moved to Venice, Fla., in 1987, and resided there until returning to Connecticut in 2004. 

She was an avid reader, enjoyed needlework, walking the beach, and collecting shells, which she used for various crafts. 

A memorial service will take place Thursday, March 26, at 10:30 am, at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Newtown. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St Rose of Lima School, Library Book Fund, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470. 

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, is serving the family.
