Constance Edith Morehouse, 81, of Fairfield died March 15. She was the loving widow of James Arthur Morehouse.

Her sons and spouses Frank and Maryann of Sandy Hook, James and Linda of Fair Oaks, Calif., Ward and Robin of Redmond, Ore, and Mark and Marianne of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren survive Mrs Morehouse.

She was a paraprofessional for the Fairfield Public School system for 25 years. She also worked for Fairfield Adaptive Recreation as a camp counselor for 20 years. She is remembered as an amazingly compassionate woman, who enjoyed assisting individuals with special needs her entire life. As her granddaughter said, “The world lost an amazing person. She was funny, sassy, loving, generous, and the biggest troublemaker you know. She spent a large part of her life spoiling the heck out of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and another part putting all of us in our place. We can’t express how much we are going to miss her, or how mad we are that she is gone. We know she is no longer in pain, and that brings a small amount of comfort. We love you, Gram. We hope you’re sipping a cocktail with Grandpa at your side.”

Calling hours will take place at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, Thursday, March 19, from 5 to 8 pm. The burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Fairfield Adaptive Recreation, 75 Mill Plain Road, Fairfield CT 06824.
