Milton F. Wolferseder
Milton F. Wolferseder, 94, of Providence and Narragansett, R.I., died peacefully March 6. He was born in 1920 and was the son of the late Carrie (Scheuren) and Francis X. Wolferseder. He was a devoted Catholic and father, and husband to Gertrude (Cahir) Wolferseder for more than70 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves five children and their spouses, Frank Wolferseder and Penny Thompson of Newtown, John Wolferseder and Linda Murray, Robert Wolferseder and Justine Banik, Joan and Ted Beisel, and Jane and Mitchell Duran. Seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brother Joseph Wolferseder and his wife Ellen Morganthall also survive Mr Wolferseder. His siblings Hazel Gibson, Dorothy Christiansen, and Mary (O’Connell) Hughes predeceased him.
Mr Wolferseder graduated from La Salle Academy in 1938 and La Salle Military Academy in 1939. He then went onto Providence College and graduated with a degree in business in 1943. It was at that time that he joined his father in the family business. American Safe & Lock was a mainstay on North Main Street in Providence for more than 100 years and provided for three generations, of which Mr Wolferseder was extremely proud. His career was decorated with distinguished awards and accomplishments. He was a published author and was a master of safe and vault technology. He was inducted into the Locksmith National Honor Society and the Locksmith Hall of Fame. Mr Wolferseder was a legend with his American contemporaries and was also recognized by the British Monarchy.
While his work ethic was unsurpassed, at the center of his life was his unwavering love for his family.
A funeral will take place Wednesday, March 11, at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary in the St Thomas Aquinas Priory on the campus of Providence College (entrance gate is on the corner of Eaton Street and River Avenue, Priory is on the left as you enter). Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours will take place at the funeral home, Tuesday, March 10, from 3:30 to 6:30 pm.
