Joan C. Porter McNamara, 76, of Stratford, beloved wife of Arnold McNamara, died January 10 in Lord Chamberlain Health Center, Stratford. Ms McNamara, a retired advance rating tech for the Hartford Insurance Company, was born in Bridgeport, and was the daughter of the late Lillian (Wilkens) and John Porter. She had been a lifelong area resident.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Donald Hancock, Jr, and his wife Donna, of Shelton and Barbara Dillon of Ansonia; stepchildren, Mary Liscinsky, and her husband Paul, of Sandy Hook, Shawn McNamara, and his wife Gina, of Pennsylvania, and Dennis McNamara of Branford; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, her brothers Jack, Richard, and George Porter predeceased Ms McNamara.

She was a graduate of Stratford High School and was a member of the Harbor Valley Yacht Club in Shelton.

Friends may greet her family Friday, January 16, from 3 to 7 pm, in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A prayer service officiated by the Reverend Louise Kalemkerian will take place at 5:30 pm. Interment will be private.
