William “Bill” Wallace Millard, Jr, 67, of Newtown died December 21 at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born December 8, 1947, in Danbury. He was the son of the late Catherine (Lake) and William Millard. 

Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Anchorage, Alaska, as a helicopter mechanic. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he resided in Bethel for 29 years.

Mr Millard worked as a custodian in Bethel Public Schools for 11 years, before retiring in 2013. Prior to his employment in Bethel, he worked at Ridgefield European Motors as an automobile mechanic for 30 years. 

After retirement, Mr Millard enjoyed caring for his granddaughter Shayna, as well as cultivating and caring for his pet chickens.

His loving wife of 43 years, Barbara (Grant) Millard, and his son, William W. Millard III; his devoted sister, Elaine Yamin, all of Newtown; a brother, Thomas Millard of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and beloved granddaughter, Shayna Millard, survive Mr Millard.

His passing was very sudden and he will be missed tremendously by both family members and friends. 

The family will receive friends Monday, December 29, from 4 to 7 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
