Amil W. Muzzio, Sr
Amil W. Muzzio, Sr, 91, formerly of Norwalk, died peacefully in his sleep at his Village of Brookfield residence on May 2. Mr Muzzio was born and raised in Stamford. He graduated from Technical School in Stamford, where he studied electrical.
His son Amil W. Muzzio, Jr, his wife Patricia, and their daughters Alexandra and Sophia, all of Sandy Hook; and his daughter Katherine Grigg, her husband Edward, and their son Kaz, all of Norwalk, survive him. His wife, Mary Deierlein Muzzio, predeceased him.
At the age of 17,ÃÂ Mr Muzzio enlisted in the US Navy and served in World War II. He was assigned to the Destroyer USS Mayrant (DD-402). During his time on the USS Mayrant, he took part in battles for Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. His ship earned three battle stars for her service in World War II.
After returning from the war, he enjoyed long career as a gas and electric serviceman for CL&P, now Eversource.
Mr Muzzio and his wife met through friends at The Newman Social Club, and they were happily married for 52 years. His family says "Their love was truly beautiful and will last forever. He will be dearly missed."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, June 19, at St Mary's Church, 669 West Avenue, Norwalk CT 06850. Interment will follow at St John's Cemetery, 223 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.
Memorial donations may be made to St Mary's Church.
