Charles George Fischer, 82, a resident of Sandy Hook since 1985, died peacefully in his sleep October 24, after a long battle with emphysema and COPD.

An avid sailor, Mr Fischer enjoyed his 27-foot sailboat, Elektra, and loved nothing more than to take his family and friends for a trip or race through Long Island Sound. He also tinkered with everything from tube radios to model airplanes and railroads.

His brother and sister-in-law, George and Carol; his children Sally, Mark, and Ken; and his grandchildren Doug and Sharon survive Mr Fischer.
