Elizabeth Zielinski
Elizabeth "Betty" (Vanech) Zielinski, 87, of Danbury, wife of the late Joseph Zielinski, died September 22 at her home. She was born in Norwalk on March 18, 1930, a daughter of Georgia (Sarantos) and Steven Vanech.
She attended Norwalk schools, Sacred Heart Academy of Stamford, and graduated from the Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing. A registered nurse, Mrs Zielinski was employed at the Fairfield Hills State Hospital in Newtown for 28 years.
A son, Joseph Zielinski of Danbury; two daughters, JoAnn Zielinski and wife Jackie Bonafonte of Oldsmar, Fla., and Elizabeth Pazsak and husband Alex of Middlebury; two sisters, Ethelyn "Cookie" O'Grady of Norwalk and Ann Markis and husband George of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; two grandsons, Steven Zelinski and Thomas Zielinski; and several nieces and nephews survive her.
In addition to her parents and husband, her daughter, Elaine Zielinski; and daughter-in-law, Dianne Zielinski, predeceased her.
The family will receive friends at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, on Wednesday, September 27, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The Rite of Burial will take place at 10:30 am in the church. Interment will follow in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
