Shirley Blanche Fox, 91, of Brookfield and formerly of Newtown, died peacefully on the morning of September 23, in Danbury. She was born on May 13, 1926, in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of the late Irene B. (Reinhardt) and Charles J.Schmitt.

She married W. Donald Fox in 1944 in Ridgewood, N.J. They were happily married for 60 years.

Mrs Fox was the district commissioner for the Poverty Hollow Pony Club for more than ten years and then became the regional supervisor for the metropolitan region.

Her daughter, Jennifer I. Montgomery, of Encinitas, Calif., survives her.

Her her husband, W. Donald Fox; her brother, Charles G. Schmitt; and her sister, Irene M. (Schmitt) Moxley, predeceased her.

A celebration of life will be conducted at the Congregational Church of Brookfield, 160 Whisconier Road, on Monday, October 16, at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the United States Pony Club, 4041 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington KY 40511.
