Donald W. Babbitt, 87, died October 9, at Troy (N.Y.) Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.chasesmithfamily.com.

Mr Babbitt was born in a small hospital in South Bend, Ind., but grew up in Mount Vernon, N.Y. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1954, and spent 3½ years in the US Army. He was in production control and instrumentation sales in analog and electronics.

A former Newtown resident, Mr Babbitt is survived by his wife, Martha; his two sons and their spouses, Kenneth and Carleen, and William and Tammy; his two daughters and their spouses, Katharine and Bob, and Mary Ellen and Mike; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, November 18, at 10 am, at Hoosick Valley Community Church, 2024 NY-40, Schaghticoke, N.Y.
