Burton A. Corbett, 80, of Southbury, and a longtime former resident of Newtown, died at New Milford Hospital August 9, after a brief illness. He was born August 12, 1933, in Ridgefield, son of Elsie (Coulter) and Arthur E. Corbett.

He served his country during the Korean War, serving in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne, the 101st Signal Battalion, the 31st Heavy Tank, 7th Infantry Division, and the 64th Heavy Tank, 3rd Infantry Division.

He worked for many years at the former Fairfield Hills State Hospital, and at Knapp Brothers Tree Service in Ridgefield, retiring after 33 years.

Mr Corbett was an avid outdoorsman and photographer. He was very knowledgeable of wildlife and enjoyed taking pictures, especially of birds. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and completing the family genealogy. He most of all loved spending time with his family.

He will be sadly missed by his children and their spouses, Robert K.  and Carol Corbett of New Fairfield, Ronald A. and Jaya Corbett of New Milford, and Thomas S. and Suzann Corbett of New Milford; as well as by nine grandchildren, Jonathon, Keith, Candace, Amanda, Melissa, Thomas, and Libby Corbett, Sharla Steinemer, and Shareen Hoffmier; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His son, Jay E. Corbett; his brother, Raymond Corbett; and sister, Donna Hill predeceased Mr Corbett.

There will be no calling hours and interment will be private.
