Thomas G. Sansonetti, Sr, 80, of Stratford, beloved husband of Rose Gambardella Sansonetti, died suddenly at his home July 26. Born in Bridgeport, March 28, 1934, he was a son of the late Bertha and John Sansonetti.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, survivors include three sons and their wives, John and Grace Sansonetti of Newtown, Thomas Sansonetti, Jr, and Lorie of Bridgeport, and James and Andrea Sansonetti of Black Rock; two sisters, Janet Rossi, and her husband Andy, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Dolores Sansonetti of Milford; four grandchildren, Juliana, Luke, Gianna, and James; and several nieces and nephews. A brother, John R. Sansonetti; and a sister, Bertha Gombos, predeceased Mr Sansonetti.

Mr. Sansonetti was a lifelong Bridgeport resident before moving to Stratford in 1993. He was a lifelong parishioner at St Patrick’s Church and 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr Murphy Council #4716. He was an active member of the Home School Association at St Patrick’s.

He was a retired employee of the United Illuminating Company Line Department, with nearly 40 years of dedicated service.

But above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who treasured time spent with his immediate family, extended family, and friends. His never-ending positive disposition was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.

Friends are invited to meet directly in St Patrick’s Church, 851 North Avenue, Bridgeport, Thursday, July 31, at 10 am, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, July 30, from 4 to 8 pm, at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Ann Academy in Black Rock, in care of the funeral home.
