Sharon Louise (Shepard) Burch, 52, a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook, died peacefully July 14 in the loving company of her husband, children, and extended family.

She attended Newtown High School, married George William Burch on August 25, 1984, and became a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as confidant to so many who loved her for her open approach to life. Also known as “Wifey” and “Mammi,” she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a lifelong best friend to so many. She had an unbelievable ability to make friends and keep them forever. Her laughter would light up a room in a way that made anyone around feel better. She was the kind of person who accepted all, unconditionally. She will be a part of all who knew her, forever and for always.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 30 years; son George David Burch; daughters Katie Lee Burch and Kelly Louise Burch, and her fiancé Steven Mead; grandchildren Mylah Marilyn Burch and Shane Mead; her father Charles E. Shepard; her brothers and their wives, Chuck and Cathy Shepard, and Kevin and Patricia Shepard, all of Sandy Hook; and brother Alan Shepard, and his wife Linda, of Newtown; her in-laws Eva and Jack Wilson of Southbury; and brothers and sisters-in-law Michael and Deborah Burch of New Milford, Shawn and Holly Burch of Oxford, and Heidi Perrone of Stamford. Many adoring nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins, as well as extended family and friends also survive Ms Burch. Her mother, Marilyn Louise Shepard (Houle); and in-laws David and Joyce Burch predeceased her.

Friends may call Sunday, July 20, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, from 2 to 5 pm. Burial will be private.
