Roberta A. Savino Forno, 81, died June 16 in the ICU at Danbury Hospital. A longtime resident of Sandy Hook, she was born in Bridgeport, December 7, 1932, to Dorothy (Turgeon) and Louis J. Savino, Sr. She was the widow of the late Frank Forno, Sr.

Mrs Forno worked for 14 years as an attendant at Southbury Training School.

As a longtime teacher of the Bob Ross painting technique, she enjoyed giving others the joy of creating art. She loved to play Kismet and Scrabble, sew, crochet, listen to the Beach Boys, and watch movies with her family. Family and friends knew her as “Nona.” Her genuine smile and great sense of humor made her loved by everyone who met her. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs Forno was passionate about her faith with particular devotions to the Sacred Heart, the Precious Blood, and the Holy Rosary.

Her three children, Dr Francis Forno, Jr, and his wife Kathryn, of Sandy Hook; Anthony Forno of Sandy Hook; and Janet Harris, and her husband Mathew, of Columbia, Md.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law; and two sisters-in-law survive Mrs Forno. Her husband, a sister and brother, and several brothers- and sisters-in-law predeceased her.

The family extends their appreciation to the many people who cared for her over her extended illness, with specific thanks to the staff of the River Glen Heath Center and Danbury Hospital ER staff and ICU nurse Chris. “Your care and compassion will be dearly remembered.”

A Prayer Service is scheduled for Friday, June 19, at 11 am, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery. Calling hours are scheduled for Thursday from 4 to 8 pm.
