Helen Starbuck Jones Moore, 92, of Southport died peacefully May 1 at The Greens, Wilton. She was born September 13, 1921, in Yonkers, N.Y., and was the daughter of Harriet Greenwood Snelling Starbuck and Frederick Irving Starbuck.

She was the older sister of Mary “Polly” Starbuck Sipherd of Newtown. Her daughter, Tina Comfort Jones of Littleton, Colo., survives. Another daughter, Kathryn Starbuck “Star” Jones, predeceased her.

In 1945 she married Dr Robcliff V. Jones, Jr, of Bronxville, N.Y., and moved to Texas and Minnesota before settling in Fairfield when he became director of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Following the death of Dr Jones, she later married Roy W. Moore, Jr, in July 1979. He also predeceased her, as did her companion of her past years, George G.D. Rockwell of Southport.

Admired for her charm and grace, as well as for her generous, engaging spirit, she treasured her many friends and enriched the lives of all who knew her. She had an abiding love of nature. She was also a member of the Fairfield Beach Club and the Pequot Yacht Club. As a descendent of one of the original settlers of Nantucket Island, she took great pride in her Starbuck heritage.

A memorial service will take place at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road, Fairfield, Friday, June 6, at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA, 22203, the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, or the Connecticut Audubon Society, 314 Unquowa Road, Fairfield CT 06824.
