The free demonstration will take place in the lower level ofÃÂ Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).
Mr Lenz grew up in the Chicago area and studied fine art at the University of Illinois.ÃÂ During the last year of his college curriculum, he took a course called "Advertising Design." SoÃÂ inspired by this advertising course, he left Illinois after graduation in 1961 to start a job as anÃÂ assistant art director at one of the largest ad agencies in New York City, McCann Erickson.
AtÃÂ McCann, he climbed the typical ladder of success, and by 1977 he was creative director of the New York Office. While there he created the successful sunset "Miller Time" campaign forÃÂ Miller High Life Beer and the even more popular "Tastes Great - Less Filling" campaign forÃÂ Miller Lite, which ran for 20 years and established the Light Beer category in the United States. It hasÃÂ been named one of the best campaigns in advertising history.
Eventually, Mr Lenz picked up the paintbrush again, and a new career was in the making. Realizing
his passion for art was still there, he began taking courses again. After a 38-yearÃÂ hiatus, he studied at the Art Students League, The National Academy, Silvermine Art Center, and Washington Arts Association.
Exhibiting, and painting, and printing, and now teaching, Mr Lenz has established himself as a widely known andÃÂ respected representational artist in both Connecticut and New York.
"I feel extremely fortunate to have had two exciting, creative careers, the second one only now
getting into gear," Mr Lenz has said. "I can't wait to wake up each morning to get out to the studio to start painting."
