Rose Marie (Jurss) Dombroski, 86, of Newtown died peacefully May 17 at Maplewood of Newtown. She was born in Milwaukee, Wis., July 3, 1927, daughter of Rose (Springob) and Edward Jurss.

In 1949, she graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor in philosophy and a minor in secondary education. Upon graduating from college, Rose went on to work as a social worker for the Department of Public Welfare in Cooke County, Ill. After moving to Ridgefield in 1963, she worked as a teacher at Pinchbeck's Nursery School. She then devoted herself to caring for her children and was a stay-at-home mom. Later on, she was an administrative assistant at Emery Air Freight and then worked at the Congregational Church in New Canaan.

Mrs Dombroski enjoyed traveling, skiing, and playing bridge.

In 1987, she moved to Brookfield and became secretary for the Brookfield Senior Center. She was a parishioner of St Joseph Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a past parishioner of St Mary’s Church in Ridgefield.

She will be sadly missed by her son Paul Dombroski and his wife Elizabeth of Shelton; her two daughters, MaryBeth Knight and her husband David of Brookfield and Lynne Dombroski and her husband Mark Wilson of Wellesley, Mass.; her brother Kenneth Jurss and his wife Mary Lou; her two grandchildren, Diana Smith and her husband Jason, and Amanda Gaita and her fiancée Jennifer Gross; her two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 23, at 10:30 am at St Joseph Church, 163 Whisconier Road, Brookfield. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, Thursday, May 22, between the hours of 5 and 7 pm.
