Donald John Kowats, Jr, 46, of Newtown died May 15, surrounded by family. He was born in Bridgeport, July 15, 1967, a son of Carolyn (Strabony) and Donald J. Kowats, Sr, of Newtown.

Mr Kowats was employed as a carpenter, most recently for Riebe Construction Company. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, ski, and water board. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Karen, and her daughter, Melissa; his daughters, Sarah of Norwalk and Kristina of Newtown; a sister, Laura Kowats Thomas, and her husband Monty, of Morris, and their children; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins survive Mr Kowats. His first wife, Joycelyn (Cavaliere) Kowats, and a daughter, Stephanie Lynn Kowats, predeceased him.

A graveside service will take place Tuesday, May 20, at 11 am, at Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Monday, May 19, from 5 to 8 pm.
