To the Editor:

Below are described two bills, presently before the Connecticut Assembly, I believe are vital to support. [They are] followed by a letter to my state representative that I sent on March 24.

HB 5540 will ban bump stocks and HB 5542 will ban "ghost guns." Ghost guns are gun assembly kits easily purchased from the internet that put weapons into the hands of purchasers without any background check and without the necessity of acquiring a license.

I'm urging those of us living in Connecticut, to ask your own state representative to vote for these two bills.

Here is my submission to my representative:

"Dear Representative O'Neill,

I have been watching the massive throng and listening to heart-rending voices gathered at our nation's capital.

Earlier today I joined over 400 people marching for life in the small exurban town of Roxbury.

The young people of our land are organizing and they will persist in their cohesion. They are calling upon those who now hold office, calling upon those who presently make policy, to find their backbones and act... act to enact laws that ban the sale of assault weapons, ban the sale of ammunition serving such weapons, end the availability of gun kits that can be assembled without background checks of any kind and used without permits, require thorough background information (including mental health data) before sale of any gun to anyone.

This young generation is aimed at the bulls-eye: 'Ballots not Bullets!' and 'Vote them out!' If our legislatures are deaf to this outcry so truly aimed, this will happen in November, and into the future also.

I fervently urge you to support with all your influence as well as your vote HB5540 and HB5542.

Sincerely,

Polly Brody (mother and grandmother)"
