Helen G. Chaloux
Helen Chaloux, 86, of Sandy Hook died peacefully March 23, surrounded by family, at her home. She was born in Bridgeport, October 30, 1927, the daughter of Helen and Charles Grewcock, and graduated from Harding High School at the age of 16.
She was married for 59 years to Donald Chaloux, and widowed in 2006. The Chalouxs were longtime residents of Wilton, where they raised a family.
With a timeout to raise her family, Mrs Chaloux spent her working life as a secretary at a number of law offices in Fairfield County, at Temple Shalom in Norwalk, and at Stauffer Chemical in Westport where she was an executive secretary to several officers of the firm. Her exceptional skills also led her to a role as an instructor at the Katherine Gibbs School.
Mrs Chaloux was a devotee of the performing arts and regularly attended both the opera and the ballet at Lincoln Center. Upon retirement, she was an active volunteer at several hospitals and with the Girl Scouts.
Three sons and their families, Stephen and Lisa Chaloux of Sandy Hook and their daughters, Danielle and Nicole, Christopher and Sara Chaloux of Attleboro, Mass., and their sons, Colin and Trevor and his wife Emily, and Matthew and Joan Chaloux of Boca Raton, Fla., and their children, Kelsey and Jared; her sister Ethel Moll of Bridgeport; and brother Neil Grewcock, and his wife Sharon, of Palmyra, Penn., survive Mrs Chaloux.
A service of interment for Helen and Donald will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Wilton, at a date to be determined.
