Richard “Dick” Joseph Bussmann, 86, of New Bern, N.C., a former 30-year resident of Newtown, died at his home March 12. He was born February 3, 1928, in New Haven, to Mabel and Joseph  Bussmann.

Lt Bussmann, US Navy (Ret) served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Two sons, Tom Bussmann, and wife Deborah, of Danbury and Jim Bussmann, and wife Cynthia, of Carolina Beach, N.C.; a daughter, Sheila Heath, and husband Bob, of Lancaster, Ohio; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a niece survive Mr Bussmann. His wife Elizabeth Bussmann; a son, Sgt Rick Bussmann, USAF; his sister, Patricia Reynolds; and a grandson, Thomas, preceded him in death.

Mr Bussmann was a member of St Paul Catholic Church, New Bern. 

Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
