Jeanne Maurice
Jeanne Maurice, 84, of Newtown died peacefully March 6, surrounded by the people who loved her the most. She was born in Boston, but lived the majority of her life in New York City, where she was the happiest.
At the age of 12, she was a musical prodigy, playing her flute at the Boston Pops. She loved music and taught piano for many years. She enjoyed reading, painting, drawing, going to the Metropolitan Opera, and visiting museums with her sister, Cynthia. Above all she loved spending time with her family.
Ms Maurice was the life of the party and everyone that ever knew her, loved her. She is remembered as a beautiful person, both inside and out.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter Lisa Berko and son-in-law Steve, as well as her grandchildren Lauren and Michael of Sandy Hook; and her son, David. She will be missed by her sister Cynthia Maurice and her husband, Richard Garrett; and her nieces and their families.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Maplewood at Newtown for their constant love and support, as well as at Season’s Hospice in Naugatuck for their compassionate care.
A memorial service is being planned in Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to curealzfund.org.
