Thomas Richard Judge
Thomas Richard Judge, 80, of Newtown died peacefully in his sleep March 10, at Masonicare at Newtown. He was born in Gloversville, N.Y., May 28, 1933, a son of Dorothy (Shearer) and Thomas Judge. Mr Judge was the husband of Dolores (Cray) Judge. The Judges have lived in Newtown for the past 35 years.
Upon his graduation from Gloversville High School in 1951, he joined the US Navy. He attended the University of Vermont.
Mr Judge was a fighter pilot with the Vermont Air National Guard before becoming a pilot with American Airlines. He retired from American Airlines as a captain, in 1993.
He enjoyed flying his airplane, golfing, skiing, and his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, his daughter, Susan MacMullan of Newtown; his son Brian, and his wife Nicole, of Vail, Colo.; his grandchildren Sean and Sarah MacMullan, and Emma and Thomas Judge; his brother John Judge, and his wife Doris, of Gainesville, Va.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive Mr Judge. A grandson, Tucker Judge, predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Saturday, March 15, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Friday, March 14, from 4 to 7 pm.
