Michael J. "Mike" Walsh, 61, of Roxbury, died March 26. He was born January 8, 1957, in Albany, N.Y., and was the treasured husband of 34 years to Nina Bonacci Walsh and the son of Margaret (Bement) Walsh of Newtown and the late James P. Walsh.

In addition to his wife and mother, his five much-loved children, Ryan Walsh and his wife Carolyn Coons Walsh, Neil Walsh, Amanda Walsh, Larissa Walsh, and Quinton Walsh; his granddaughter, Athena; and his five loving siblings and their spouses, James F. and Dinah Walsh of Newtown, Kevin P. and Sandra Walsh of Fairfield, Sharon and David Brace of Sewell, N.J., Colleen and Christopher Mars of Scarborough, Maine, and Mary Kathleen and Julio Ceballos of Atlanta, Ga., and their families survive him. He is also survived by his in-laws and 20 cherished nieces and nephews.

Mr Walsh was a 1975 graduate of Immaculate High School in Danbury, where he was an honors student and excelled as shortstop for the varsity baseball team. He was also a 1979 graduate of Sacred Heart University, where he majored in psychology and met the love of his life Nina Bonacci.

His passions included spending time with his family, enjoying sports - especially watching his children compete - fixing and restoring cars with his sons, listening to classic rock and jazz music, celebrating his Irish American heritage, babysitting for his granddaughter Athena, taking hikes throughout Connecticut, and enjoying a laugh and a good meal with family and friends. His loved ones say he will also be fondly remembered for his high energy, strong work ethic, zany sense of humor, and fun-loving wardrobe, including his playful T-shirts and his signature Irish tweed cap. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.

Visitation hours will be conducted from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, April 2, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3, at 10:30 am, at St Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown.
